Leon Bennett was trained as an Aeronautical Engineer (Bachelor and Master degrees.) For many years, he served as a Senior Research Scientist at the New York University College of Engineering, working in the areas of aerodynamics, fluid mechanics and tissue stress. He has published 36 refereed technical papers including studies of insect aerodynamics and raindrop size. During his military service, spent at the Ballistics Research Lab at Aberdeen, MD, he studied ballistics of shell flight. Now retired, he is embarked on a second career, as an author. Published books are Three Wings for the Red Baron (White Mane, now reprinted by Helion) and Gunning for the Red Baron (Texas A&M). The Fall of the Red Baron (also published by Helion) completes his Red Baron trilogy. Another manuscript is awaiting publication and he is researching other future books. A life-long resident of New York City, he claims to be otherwise reasonable. As a relief from the Red Baron, he continues his long term interest in model airplanes, both in the field (rubber powered scale models) and as a columnist for the Flying Aces publication.
