Terry Pratchett (1948-2015) is the acclaimed creator of the globally revered Discworld series. In all, he authored more than fifty bestselling books, which have sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide. His novels have been widely adapted for stage and screen, and he was the winner of multiple prizes, including the Carnegie Medal. He was awarded a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to literature in 2009, although he always wryly maintained that his greatest service to literature was to avoid writing any.
""If you've never read one of Pratchett's novels before, Thief of Time is a wonderful introduction to this top-notch satirist. But be forewarned. Before long, you too might find yourself rereading Discworld novels over and over."" -- Denver Post ""Funny, charming . . . will steal readers' spare hours as they find themselves unable to put it down."" -- Chicago Tribune ""Philosophical humor of the highest order."" -- Kirkus Reviews ""Reads with all the polished fluency and sure-footed pacing that have become Pratchett's hallmarks over the years . . . He still maintains the rush of sheer delight that makes his work so addictive and keeps his fans so loyal."" -- London Times ""Wonderful . . . . A delight to read. The story is as complicated, daft, hilarious and satisfying as vintage PG Wodehouse: part kung fu epic, part philosophical novel, part mind-bending experiment with chaos theory. Pratchett has an admirable ability to land home truths, be very silly and also very wise all in one go."" -- Guardian
