"Gordon Hirth was born in 1926 and grew up on the family farm at Werneth in Victoria, mid-way between Ballarat and Colac. Like all young farmers of the time, he lived through the stringent Depression years of the 1930s and the anxious WWII years up to the mid-1940s. After a wide-spread grass fire swept through the area in January 1944 with devastating losses at the farm ""Glen Cairn"", he worked throughout the year helping to get the farm back on its feet and left at the end of 1944 to pursue another career. In later years, when the opportunity offered, he took up part-time farming and recovered some of the interest and satisfaction of the early years of an aspiring young farmer."
A tale of youthful experiences told by a well-versed new author who cares for his memories and shares them with humble and modest reality...a beautiful tale to be shared with lovers of history in Victoria... Gayle, Indiebook Reviewer
