Reading together is their favorite pastime. Leah also enjoys photography and incorporates photos into several of her books. Leah's titles include Our Heaven Baby, a book about miscarriage and the hope of Heaven; Little Lu Learns to Love, a book about imagination and dreams; Little Lu the Dreamer, a book about kindness and love; and the Road Trip Tales series which currently include The Tree Guardian: A Tale of the Sequoia Forest and The Very Quiet Village: A Tale of Yosemite.
This story is very clever and engaging for adults and children. Yosemite has long been one of my favorite places in California and deserves a good story, the photos used in the illustrations are stunning. This tale teaches some very useful facts as well, for instance; do you know what to do if you are hiking and you come across a bear? Read the book to find out! -- Kathleen We have all of the books written by Leah Vis and each one is loved by my family. I was so excited when she came out with the Road Trip Tales series because roadtrips are our favorite pastime and something we try to do every year. Both The Very Quiet Village and The Tree Guardian are truly something special. Leah Vis is an amazing photographer and I admire how she has put all of her talents together to create such beautiful storybooks that the whole family can enjoy. I appreciate the information she lists about each place at the end and I can't wait to see where she will take us next! -- Luz As a California native, Yosemite is a great place to visit and learn about. I love that the pictures are real, with the added touch of illustrated characters. The story is a good balance of the beauty of quiet, and the excitement of being loud, and why each has its place. Great read! -- Amber Such a beautiful book blending photos and illustrations together. Woni struggles to find his place in the tribe who is quiet, and find out that he is perfect the way he is. This living book will be a favorite with children and adults alike. It's peaceful story include words that can be used to enrich vocabulary and learning. In addition, there are facts presented at the end of the story as well as links so you can learn more about the Yosemite Valley. --Kathy
