Juan Mullerat is a city planner, urban designer, and writer, and the founding principal of Plusurbia Design, an award-winning urban design studio based in Miami. Trained as an architect, his work explores the forces-historical, cultural, political, and social-that shape cities, combining design, policy, and storytelling to understand how urban environments come to be. Committed to uncovering the cultural identities embedded in the places we inhabit, Mullerat strives through his practice and writing to honor memory, context, and civic meaning. At the heart of his work is a belief in building urban futures that are inclusive, resilient, and grounded in history. Equally important is studying how cities evolve-how layers of culture, governance, and design continually reshape them-so that new interventions add value. By approaching urban change with sensitivity to context and respect for each city's story, he works to ensure new developments enrich rather than erase, strengthening the ties between people and place.
