Narottama Dasa Thakur (1530-1616 CE.) was a famous teacher and song writer belonging to the Bengali Vaishnava tradition founded by Sri Krishnachaitanya (1486-1533 CE.) Neal Delmonico, the translator, has an MA and PhD in South Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago and has translated from Sanskrit and Bengali several other works on the Bengali Vaiṣṇava tradition. Neil Steinert who helped copy and organize the original text and wrote parts of the introduction has an MA in Social Work from Rutgers University (2006) and is a trained and licensed psychotherapist, a yoga instructor, and an avid outdoorsman. He is also a student of the Bengali language and of the philosophy of the Caitanya Vaiṣṇava tradition.
