It's a biographical memoir that reads like a novel and plays like a movie. The transitions he made in a bold career, the trials and tribulations he found in his search for love (an aborted attempt at marriage with a famous and powerful woman, eventual fulfillment with a taboo-shattering same-sex partnership with talented artist Norman Sunshine), the wisdom to launch a valued career in a world of frustration and challenge--it's all here, and more. Alan Shayne has lived quite a life. ""Tell me more,"" you'd say if you spent an evening in front of the fire with him. In this book, he does. So few autobiographies are published today that you can call fresh and learn from. This is one of them. I couldn't put it down, and when it ended. I wanted more. -- REX REED, American film critic, journalist, and media personality"
