Rodolfo Galvan Estrada III is the Assistant Professor of New Testament at Vanguard University. He has a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Regent University, holds two master's degrees from Duke University, and has done post-doctoral work in Classics at Villanova University. Estrada's research focuses on the cultural background of the New Testament which includes race and ethnicity in the Greco-Roman world, migration and exile, and Latino readings of the New Testament.
""Estrada invites readers of John's Gospel to encounter so much more than a rehearsal of the life of Jesus. The Gospel transforms followers of Jesus into hospitable communities that are racially diverse, inclusive, and barrier-breaking. Estrada captures a message no less important for a contemporary world marked by hatred and division."" --Martin Mittelstadt, Professor of New Testament, Evangel University, Springfield, Missouri ""Some wonder if racial ideologies even existed in the ancient Mediterranean, while others utilize only modern racial frameworks in their readings of New Testament texts. Rodolfo Estrada helpfully cultivates a third approach, demonstrating how the world of John categorized difference while also showing how the Spirit's breath reveals the insufficiency of such frameworks. Estrada's pneumatic solution is a compelling invitation to 'see' race in John's Gospel through the Spirit's work to birth a new family of God."" --Holly Beers, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, Westmont College, Santa Barbara, California
