Delve into how patient-managed healthcare is manipulating the Baby Boomer race for rehabilitation coverage in skilled nursing facilities. This change will affect each following generation until the next overhaul of payouts to providers is modified. The next modification is not known and change will not happen quickly, likely taking years. When that change does come, it will likely be even more restrictive. From a brief history of Medicare and affordable healthcare gimmicks, explore the current Medicare overhaul of the Patient-Driven Payment Model that is the new standard for rehabilitation. The need for patient progress in a micro minute can leave those who do not fit into the average patient model out in the cold with the possibility of others determining if you can or cannot return to your home. This book is designed to help you avoid the potential trap of losing your ability to live in your own home. I will take you through your home, room by room with ideas to get in place as you age. This book can increase your ability to live as independently as possible including templates to guide you both inside and outside your home to decrease your risk of getting trapped in the system and out of your home. I have included graphic details of injuries, complications, and even the death of individuals in order to understand the seriousness of your environment.

Lucy Arnold received her degree in Occupational Therapy in 2012 from Baker College. She primarily works with the geriatric population in both skilled nursing facilities and home health care. Lucy grew up in southeast Michigan, in a blue-collar family through the soaring inflation and political upheaval of the 1970s. Lucy was always drawn to help people and animals that needed a helping hand which led her to the therapy world. While working through the transition from traditional Medicare to the current Patient-Driven Payment Model, Lucy came to clash with her beliefs to help those entering the rehabilitation system and the conflict of companies exploiting those at a disadvantage. Many of you may be disadvantaged because you can't know what you don't know. Now you will know!
