Rough Guides are written by expert authors who are passionate about both writing and travel. They have detailed knowledge of the areas they write about--having either traveled extensively or lived there--and their expertise shines through on every page. It's priceless information, delivered with wit and insight, providing the down-to-earth, honest read that is the hallmark of Rough Guides. Daniel Stables is a travel writer based in Manchester, UK. He writes travel articles for National Geographic and the BBC, and his debut narrative travel book, Fiesta: A Journey Through Festivity is coming out in early 2026. He also hosts a podcast, Hungry Ghosts, about food and travel. You can find his work on X @DanStables, Instagram @DanStabs, or at his website, danielstables.co.uk. Agnish Ray is a journalist based in Madrid, covering travel, culture, gastronomy and current affairs. He has written about destinations across Spain, from Madrid, San Sebastian and Oviedo to Seville, Valencia and the Balearic Islands, and has interviewed a range of Spanish artists, filmmakers, sportspeople, dancers, designers, authors and chefs. His work has been featured in publications such as The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, Financial Times, Wallpaper*, Conde Nast Traveller, Sleeper, Kinfolk and Vogue, among others. Libby Davies is a travel editor at Rough Guides. London-based, she still finds the city just as exciting as when she first moved here in 2016. She grew up in Yorkshire and still spends a lot of time walking around the gorgeous peaks, dales and reservoirs of the north. She has updated guidebooks to Spain and London, and whenever she is travelling she likes to seek out books by local authors, especially any weird and wonderful novels that help conjure a sense of place.
