Researchers have long examined how organizations can design and manage sustainable supply chain operations. As a core discipline in operations and supply chain management, sustainability has become essential to achieving long-term competitiveness. Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) now offer powerful opportunities to further enhance sustainable supply chain operations through advanced descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. Across procurement, inventory management, distribution, logistics, and retail operations, AI-enabled sustainability initiatives transform how firms make decisions, optimize resources, and reduce environmental impact-not only improving operational efficiency and resilience but also significantly influencing their bottom-line performance. The Role of AI in Sustainable Supply Chain Management explores how AI can be effectively implemented within organizations to strengthen supply chains through sustainable, long-term solutions. Through cutting-edge scholarly perspectives, this book interrogates, advances, and critically examines how AI technologies enable, reshape, and challenge sustainable practices across complex supply networks. Covering topics such as circular supply chains, reducing food waste, AI-powered enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and green procurement, this book is an excellent resource for supply chain and operations professionals, sustainability leaders, business decision-makers, researchers and academics, and graduate and advanced undergraduate students in supply chain management, analytics, and sustainability.
