Part of the acclaimed Casemate Illustrated Series, this book discusses the escalation of tensions that emerged following the French and Indian War utilizing maps, diagrams and artwork from the period.

British America's success in the French and Indian War might have been expected to lead to a period of peace and prosperity, however the exchange of territory following the 1763 peace treaty led to dramatic changes in the political landscape of North America, the disruption of alliances and trade networks, and increased conflict between settlers and Native Americans. Meanwhile disagreement on how the huge costs of the concluded war should be paid drove a wedge between the colonies and the British government, tensions that eventually erupted into the protests of the early 1770s, and led to the First Continental Congress.

This Casemate Illustrated volume discusses the escalation of simmering tensions in the American colonies in the years after the end of the French and Indian War and the path to the first military engagements of the Revolutionary War at Lexington and Concord, and Bunker Hill.
