Dr. Joseph Washington is a pharmacist, market access consultant, and patient advocate for rare diseases. He holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, with a concentration in Applied Pharmacoeconomics, and Master of Public Health from the University of Florida. His work has supported pharmaceutical manufacturers across oncology, rare disease, serious mental illness, and diagnostics-crafting strategies to ensure therapies reach the patients who need them most.Living with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis and interstitial lung disease, Dr. Washington brings a uniquely personal perspective to conversations about access, equity, and innovation in healthcare. His advocacy has taken him from patient conference stages to Capitol Hill, where he has championed policies for equitable clinical trial access and support for people living with rare conditions. He is the founder of Washington Unlimited, a platform dedicated to pharmacist education, leadership development, and patient empowerment. The Practicing Patient is his debut book, reflecting his mission to amplify patient voices in every corner of healthcare-from both sides of the pharmacy counter.
