Jessalynn Bird, DPhil (Oxon) is an independent scholar who has published numerous articles on the crusade and reform work of Peter the Chanter's circle, including the fama-based inquisition against heresy, crusade sermons, anti-usury efforts, hospitals, and pilgrimage. She has recently completed a sourcebook with Edward Peters and the late James M. Powell titled Crusade and Christendom: Annotated Documents in Translation from Innocent III to the Fall of Acre, 1187-1291 (2013), and is working on a book on women and the crusades and on translations of James of Vitry's eastern and western histories.
