This book is about a late medieval house, which seems to have disappeared. It is called Anwards, and was located in the southern part of Tidenham Parish near Sedbury, which is bounded by the rivers Severn and Wye.
I am interested in house history, so when I discovered Anwards was a 'capital house', it became a challenge to know more. I was curious about the people who lived in it over the centuries; their lives, status and values. This is a detective story and some discoveries may be of surprise even to local residents. Several of the people mentioned may also have links with the present. In fact, in the process of this investigation, I have learnt how settlements changed and are still changing. Also, how the orchards, which were once so prevalent here, have sadly vanished.
