Tim Oliphant, also known professionally as Mr. Ollie, attended a small art school. He later sold his art to agencies, magazines, and newspapers. He began his career in ad agencies and self-syndicating editorial cartoons to 25 newspapers throughout Tennessee. Starting in 1987 Mr. Ollie began working as a ""teaching artist"" traveling to schools all over the southeast states and some north of Tennessee working in schools through state and local art agencies. He is the recipient of the Outstanding Artist in Residence Award from the Tennessee Arts Commission and a School Bell Award from the Tennessee Education Association for his work on educational issues. He is a long-time member of the National Cartoonists Society. Mr. Ollie lives on a twelve-acre farm in Lewisburg, Tennessee.
