Max Haller, born in 1947, works at Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften (Wien). He was professor of sociology at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz and visiting professor at universities in Europe, the USA and Tanzania. He was founder of the »European Sociological Association«.
