Buddhika Liyanage is a civil engineer and professional engineer with over two decades of experience in infrastructure project delivery. He has been fortunate to accumulate valuable expertise across all three sectors within the industry. Buddhika spent over five years as a general contractor executing construction projects. He then transitioned into an engineering consultant for eight years, managing construction delivery. For the past decade, he has been managing major infrastructure projects for the City of Toronto, North America's fourth-largest municipality. Throughout his professional journey, Buddhika has had the privilege of representing or being part of project delivery teams for numerous prominent contracting and consulting companies, which have provided him with ample opportunities to gain valuable experiences and sharpen his project management expertise. Buddhika has also been fortunate to collaborate closely with numerous professionals; their mentorship has played a pivotal role in his professional development. As a senior engineer and project manager, he feels responsible for sharing years of practical insights, perspectives, and knowledge with current project leads and those aspiring to enter the industry. Buddhika's motivation for writing this book stems from a desire to pass on his real-world experience, particularly to his daughter, who is currently pursuing her engineering degree. This book is also crafted to address many questions that have arisen in mentorship programs, serving as a resource not only for aspiring project managers but also for consultants and contractors who seek to understand the unique responsibilities and perspectives of government project leads.
