Gymnastics is like flying and Riley is ready to soar.

Fourteen-year-old Riley lives for gymnastics. The beam and vault are her very breath. So when a setback causes her to lose her spot as a level eight gymnast on the Stick Squad team, she does what she has to―she finds another gym. Fitting in at the new gym feels impossible, but at least she can still tumble and train for the upcoming Regional Gymnastics Championships. Unfortunately, a former teammate will stop at nothing to keep Riley from competing. Can Riley ignore the hate and prove that she deserves to be at the meet?

Reviews for The Gymnast

I grew up in the gymnastics world similar to our main character Riley and I loved the personality and spunk in her. She is a really strong-willed character who would be an awesome role model to young girls. This book is well and thoughtfully written with a great cast of characters ready to rally. Riley could teach many girls some lessons in strength and not giving up when things get tough! Definitely would recommend it (even for adults!) - Amazon Reviewer This was such a good read. While this book is suitable for middle school readers, it was an interesting read for me as an adult as well. Riley was a great character, and she was easy to relate to throughout the book. The descriptions and explanations of what it was like to be a gymnast were fun to read and kept your attention. I love Riley's tenacity. When everything she loves crumbles around her, she fights to find a way to make it work. And she puts in the time and effort. That's a great lesson for any girl. I would definitely recommend this book for all ages. - Amazon Reviewer I thought this was a great book for young readers. I like a book that takes the protagonist outside of their comfort zone and helps them see outside of themselves. - Amazon Reviewer
