An Oxford University graduate and postgraduate in English Language and Literature, James Travers specialises in finding hidden histories in unpublished sources at The National Archives in Kew, London, where he works as Cultural Property Manager. James is the author of two history books with a literary twist, James I: The Masque of Monarchy (The National Archives, 2003) and Gunpowder: The Players Behind the Plot (The National Archives, 2005). He regularly engages in media work within his field of expertise and was historical consultant on the BBC2 documentary Gunpowder 5/11: The Greatest Terror Plot.
