The Gig Society explores the various ways in which modern technology impacts society. The technology of today, from artificial intelligence to social media to Internet service providers, are creating an economy that funnels power to the ruling class and fosters a culture of division and apathy. These changes represent an erosion of freedom, privacy, and individuality. It's on us, the people of the America and our representative government, to recognize and fight back against that erosion--through regulation and our own cultural movements alike. The Gig Society goes through a catalog of threats posed by modern technology and presents necessary solutions for them. It's also a plea for American unity against those threats, because if we don't find it in ourselves and each other to fight back, we will see institutions collapse and our shared values slip away from us for good.

I am Brian Wolatz, a Computer Scientist and advocate for Internet Freedom. The Gig Society, focuses on regulating the tech industry in accordance to traditional American values. I am a technologist myself, a Software Engineer, and I infuse my technical knowledge of the Internet to provide ideas and propose policy around the Internet's future. I'm inspired by the movement for the unimpeded flow of ideas, speech, and content on the Internet, and set out to write my book in an attempt to both warn and educate about the threats posed by modern technology. Omaha is my city- I was born here, raised here, graduated high school and college here, and live here currently. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in Computer Science. I've developed software for several Omaha-headquartered companies, such Union Pacific and my current company Avantas. I work as a full-stack developer responsible for database, back-end, and front-end technologies.
