In 1988, the Jackie Chan Fan Club was established. After a few issues and a screening of Eastern Condors at London's Empire Cinema, Leicester Square, the name was changed to Eastern Heroes. This change expanded the fanzine beyond Jackie Chan to cover other great Hong Kong action stars of the time.
In this special Essential Guide to Eastern Heroes, I explore how it all began, showcasing all the issues from the first Jackie Chan newsletter to the current glossy magazine. I have scanned and presented the numerous video/DVD catalogues we released, highlighting the hundreds of titles we distributed throughout the '90s. This is an excellent collector's guide to see how many of the releases you have bought or seen (I found titles I forgot we released). Plus, a showcase of cinema flyers and events.
With over 130 pages of vintage content, this A4 softback retro-style magazine is packed with nostalgia. From rare artwork and behind-the-scenes stories to unforgettable fan moments and promotional gems, this guide is a time capsule for anyone passionate about martial arts cinema. A true celebration of the golden era of Hong Kong action films.
