Born and raised in the hockey world, Cindy gives her perspective on what it was like to have Don Cherry as her father. She observed and learned from his lifestyle and put these lessons toward her own life. From her love of animals, which brought on careers as a vet tech, zookeeper, racetrack groomer, and pet store manager, to owning Canada's first mobile dog-grooming service, she learned to have that entrepreneurial spirit. She has worked for the Kidney Foundation of Canada as a fund development and marketing associate, an organization close to her heart since donating a kidney to her brother in 1978. The charity work continues within the Cherry family by establishing a facility in honour of her late mother that administers palliative and respite care to chronically ill children. Plus, her love for animals and being an animal-welfare activist prompted her to start Don Cherry's Pet Rescue Foundation, which benefits from the sale of this book. Cindy hopes you enjoy reading about her Dad's inimitable life as much as she enjoyed sharing it.
