A native of southern Ontario, Michelle Rebidoux studied art, philosophy, and religious studies at various Canadian universities. She currently resides in St. John's, Newfoundland, where she teaches religious studies at Memorial University and theology at Queen's College. In her spare time Rebidoux loves painting, writing poetry, and hiking in the beautiful Newfoundland landscape. Her previous two books of poetry are The Last Thing Is Longing (2021) and Songs of Gems and Bones (2023).
""This collection of poems calls to you to read them out loud. The beauty, depth, sassiness, and heart-rending honesty demand that the reader be prepared for possible self-reflection. Michelle is that rare combination of philosopher-poet whose work speaks to both heart and mind--a combination badly needed in a world that seems to find itself polarized on one side or the other of every issue. Here, we find both."" --Carmel Doyle, Director of Student Programs, Queen's College, Canada ""The poetry of a seeker's search for meaning is a dialogue with the self and simultaneously a listening. Michelle's poetry is a record of the journey back to what she intuits is our Source, and where her soul's knowing leads her. The poems record both the irrefutable pull of the Spirit, rising to a higher knowing, and the pull back to earth's reality, an earth that is brighter. When our eyes are opened the light reflects beauty from the smallest of insects. These poems are about this journey."" --Sharon Trueman Goodyear, Religious Icon Painter ""This collection of Dr. Rebidoux's poetry is, simply put, astounding. Cycles eloquently emerge, such as the relationship of the earth to the sky, in tandem with the cyclical journey of finding, losing, and finding God. We do not exist in a static place, relative to God. We come closer to the light, feel its weight, drift, and return. In exploring life in the light, Dr. Rebidoux reveals a playing, teasing, but always loving relationship with God."" --Lisa-Jo K. van den Scott, Editor-in-Chief, Symbolic Interaction
