Alan Forrest is Emeritus Professor of Modern History at the University of York. His previous publications include Napoleon's Men: The Soldiers of the Revolution and Empire (2002), The Legacy of the French Revolutionary Wars: The Nation-in-Arms in French Republican Memory (2009), Napoleon (2011), Waterloo (2015), and The Death of the French Atlantic: Trade, War and Slavery in the Age of Revolution (2020). He is co-editor of The Routledge Companion to the French Revolution in World History (2016). Peter Hicks is a historian of the Napoleonic period and International Affairs Manager at the Fondation Napoléon, Paris and Chargé de cours at the Institut Catholic des Etudes Supérieures (ICES), La Roche sur Yon. His previous publications include Emmanuel de Las Cases, Le Mémorial de Sainte Hélène: Le manuscript retrouvé, critical edition with presentation and commentary, with Thierry Lentz, François Houdecek and Chantal Prévot (2017), and The Napoleonic Empire and the New European Political Culture, with Michael Broers and Agustin Guimerá (2012).
