Reviews for The Art of Leading: Truth, Love, and Empathy in Action

I believe the book is designed for any level of leadership to read and improve their style of leading their team. Desiring to improve your leadership style and have a quick book where you are able to reflect and evaluate is a win win! This book provides that opportunity and enlightens areas that aren't so comfortable in leadership and provides some quick fixes on how to handle it. I highly recommend the book to anyone in a leadership role or academy. Ronda Doward, Director of Tobacco Prevention This book takes years of leadership experience and research and distills it down into simple, actionable concepts. A leader at any stage in their career will benefit from the lessons and self reflection in every chapter. Bobbi Jamriska, Senior Vice President Product & Strategy The book truly compliments the YouTube video series Leadership Lab and expands on it. The questions for reflection are likely the best way to engage a reader and almost leave the reader wanting to have a live discussion with the author. Finally, I especially appreciated the language this book was written in. It's personal but also very digestible, relatable and easy to follow the thoughts of the author throughout the chapters, no ''big terminology'', mile long sentences or foreign terms. It made me feel almost like reading a diary of a seasoned leader, who is pouring it all out on paper. Aleksandra Carawan, Vendor Services Operations Manager The Art of Leading is a refreshing take on building one's leadership style from a foundation of love, empathy, and truth. The topics were presented in unpretentious language, important terms were defined, and the content was easy to identify with. While the book describes that many of the concepts within are broadly shared among many authors and leaders, some of which are included within an included and recommended reading list, this book focuses on presenting the concepts not in some tired scientific fashion, but with emotional logic to make it personal. The Art of Leading starts with why, and it pulls you into an intimate journey that cherishes authenticity and transparency. I felt both challenged and encouraged to understand and embrace my calling, and am reminded that the good we share with the world shouldn't merely be a consequence of loosely held beliefs, but expressed intentionally as our own demonstrated core principles. Alyssa Holmes, National Director of Service Operations
