Would you rather have something real or artificial? In this quick read and with easy to follow reasoning, Michael Faeth has set out to change the narrative around artificial intelligence. This isn't an anti-A.I. tirade; in fact the author outlines some very good uses for it. However, we need a change of perspective on what role A.I. can legitimately play in society and what the limitations are.

We are being primed to put our faith entirely into generative A.I., but why? The way the companies that are promoting it as the consummate solution to our needs is disconcerting and concerning to say the least. It is easy to see how companies promoting the use of A.I. could have ulterior motives. The good news is that we have choices: we can stop supporting products and services we dislike; we can choose to live in a way that is best for our own creativity, productivity, and intellect. We still have plenty of time to re-think if and how we want to use A.

I personally and in society as a whole.

So, should we stop marveling at the works of Mozart, Stephen Hawking, Ella Fitzgerald, Picasso, Mary Oliver, da Vinci, or so many others who have enhanced our lives using their natural intelligence? Does every endeavor we undertake need to be delivered instantaneously and without human contemplation? Take your time to wonder, think, daydream, and create, and may human intelligence and creativity never be replaced by something artificial.
