Silvia Bastow (Author) Silvia Bastow is the Head of Languages at Ercall Wood Academy in Shropshire, specialising in German with two decades of secondary education experience. She is a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) for MFL, a GCSE examiner, and a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching (FCCT). Silvia mentors Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and Early Career Teachers (ECT) and serves as the Honorary Membership Officer (HMO) for the Association for Language Learning (ALL). She earned her Master's degree in German Linguistics from the University of Prešov in 2001. Passionate about Second Language Acquisition and evidence-informed practices, Silvia has worked with number of providers including ALL, researchEd and the National College, and frequently presents at education conferences. As one of the German Expert Mentor for the Goethe Institut's GIMAGINE project, she also works with the National Centre for Languages (NCLE) to improve MFL provision in English state schools.
