The first edition of this iconic and ground-breaking book won a Whitley Silver Medal Award for the best Australian book on Zoology in 2013. Due to major recent taxonomic revisions, this Third Edition is a completely updated version, incorporating 21 newly created genera, 10 new species and one new subspecies of tree frogs alone, plus six new species, one new subspecies and many other additions and revisions to genera in other families. All these changes have meant the book has had to expand, while the total number of Australian frog species has increased to 264, plus six subspecies. The book covers all the adults plus most of the life histories of these species, further cementing its position as a lasting contribution to frog conservation. The book contains comprehensive information about Australian tadpoles, eggs, metamorphosed frogs and adult frogs, accompanied by numerous colour photographs. It has been described as

the most comprehensive and thorough treatment of a continental frog fauna that there has ever been . Using meticulous keys, descriptive characters and a multitude of illustrations, the book helps readers to identify which tadpole or egg belongs to which frog, largely through the vast number of photos of live frogs, tadpoles and eggs at various life stages. T his magnificent and unique volume is a worthy addition to the library of any naturalist, student or professional with a keen interest in identifying our frogs and learning more about their fascinating life histories. Tadpoles and Frogs of Australia will serve as an invaluable and fundamental tool by contributing greatly towards our understanding of how we can help Australian frogs to survive.
