Dr. Lewis Perelmutter obtained his PhD in Immunology from McGill University in 1962. He worked for Health and Welfare Canada before developing his own laboratory in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, becoming its director in 1987. Dr. Perelmutter is the author of over a hundred scientific papers. A pioneer in his field, he has lectured on clinical immunology around the world. His specializations include infectious disease, the characterization and function of allergic antibodies, and the relationship between immunology, genetics, and life expectancy. Dr. Perelmutter is an elder-rights activist devoted to improving life for Canadian seniors. He lives in Ottawa, and celebrated his 90th birthday in 2025.
