Cheikh SARR was Born in Joal Fadiouth (Senegal), he spent his entire youth in Thiès. After the BAC diploma from Malick Sy High School of Thiès, he continued his higher studies at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar (UCAD), at the National High Institute of Sport and Physical Education (INSEPS). With a physical education teaching certificate (CAPEPS) in hand after 6 years, he continued his studies of Sports Psychology in Germany in 2003 and joined the University of Delaware (USA) in 2006 where he obtained his Master of Education and Sports Management degree in 2008. Back in Senegal, he worked with SEEDS Academy from 2008-2011. His passion for studies and research encouraged him to get back to the academic realm as a teacher-researcher at Gaston Berger University (UGB) of St Louis in 2012, where he obtained his Doctorate in Sports Psychology in 2016. As the chief of the Sports Sciences and Physical Activities Department (STAPS) of the School of Education and Sport Faculty (SEFS) of St Louis from 2017 to 2021, he taught sports psychology and basketball for the undergraduates and graduate students while managing the division of student-athletes of elite sports. Throughout his course, he reconciled studies and Basketball. The numerous national and international competitions in which he participated as a national team coach of Senegal earned him a reputation as a rigorous and hardworking man. His results during the men's (2014) and women's (2018) World Cups have given him worldwide recognition because both teams reached historically the second round for the first time. He also helped Rwanda basketball raise the flag to the highest with the women reaching 4th place at the Afrobasket 2023 and the men's winning the 3rd place at the AFROCAN. Today, SARR's status of instructor of instructors at FIBA World Coaches Basketball Association (WABC) rings like a consecration, hence the numerous training courses, clinics and camps carried out in several African cities (Abidjan, Antananarivo, Antsirabe, Bujumbura, Douala, Dubai, Garoua, Johannesburg, Kigali, Man, Musanzé, Port Elisabeth, Porto-Novo, St Louis, etc. He has 2 dogs (Youki, an American pitbull; and Alex, a mixed boerbull).
