Full-page profiles of 180 men and women buried at West Point accompany a walking tour of the grounds.

The West Point Cemetery is one of the most beautiful military cemeteries in the world. It is also the resting place of more Medal of Honor recipients per acre than any place in the United States.

Author Robert Holcomb was born on the grounds of the US Military Academy at West Point, graduated from the academy, and served in the US Army for 20 years. His parents are buried at the West Point Cemetery, and it was during his father's funeral that he was inspired by the great beauty and serenity of the place.

Hundreds of original photographs accompany a walking tour of the cemetery, including the Old Cadet Chapel and the Caretakers Cottage.

However, this is not only a guide to the grounds, but also a highly readable and informative historical work. Through the detailed biographies of 180 men and women buried at West Point, Holcomb goes beyond the headstones to provide an insight into the greater history of the academy and of the US Army.

AUTHOR: Robert Holcomb (Lt. Col., Ret.) was born on the grounds at West Point. He graduated from the US Military Academy in 1973. His parents are buried in the West Point Cemetery. Holcomb has a PhD in information technology and lives in Virginia.
