Matt (Matthew) Forrest is passionate about using and sharing ideas around modern GIS, helping others to use a variety of new tools in their geospatial workflows while learning new technologies and skills. Matthew graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Geography and has been working with GIS and in Geospatial for 13 years, the past 8 at CARTO, currently as the Field CTO. He has worked with businesses and governments of all sizes and scales, and enjoys helping others advance their GIS careers.
Just downloaded Matt Forrest book on Spatial SQL. I'm looking forward to setting up the PostGIS instance and learning how to build spatial sql queries in PostgreSQL. I've been working with SpatialSQL in MSSQL for years but realize that the functionality is far more extensive in PostGIS than what Microsoft offers with it's geometry and geography datatypes. So far I'm impressed and if you're looking to get to a more open source gis implementation I recommend you learn all you can on spatial SQL. #spatialdata #gis #geospatial #sql #postgresql #postgis
