A Simplified Dictionary of Modern Samoan
This dictionary has been compiled to meet a need for a contemporary Samoan language resource.
In addition to the comprehensive Samoan to English and English to Samoan sections, other features include a guide to pronunciation, a brief overview to grammar, the language of courtesy, and a selection of Samoan proverbs.
Further listings give a Samoan translation of days of the week, seasons and months; telling the time; points of the compass; continents and countries; given names; parts of the body; colours; numbers and measurements; technical and medically related terms. There are over 15,000 entries.

A scholar of the Samoan language and customs for over forty years, Ron Allardice has given distinguished service and leadership in the Methodist Churches of Samoa and Australia. He is the author of several text books in Samoan and a bi-lingual history of the Methodist Church in Samoa.

This dictionary of over 15,000 entries has been compiled to meet a need for a contemporary Samoan language resource. It is in no way intended to replace the scholarly and comprehensive dictionary compiled by Prof. G. B. Milner.
