Much has been written about how men in modern culture have lost their way. Masculinity has become toxic and far too common on many levels. Anger, rage, and violence rule too many lives and ruin too many homes. What has happened to men? They were created to be leaders and should be models for their families and communities. This behavior is life gone bad from the start. Men tend to parent their children the same way they were parented. But there is hope for positive and permanent change. Offered here is a pathway to lead men away from the behavioral stupor that binds them. This process will help them see where they fall short. It can help define a new goal to become the mature men God created them to be. In addition, everyone leaves some kind of legacy after they are gone, but the question is whether that is the way one wants to be remembered. ""Silent strength"" is positive power under control, and readers will be challenged to develop a model of legacy for those who follow after they are gone.

Reviews for Silent Strength: The Power of a Mature Man

""Glenn Collard reminds me of Joseph as another faithful, humble man of Silent Strength. I commend his offering here as a deep, profound meditation from one who's given his life to service to the Lord that Joseph knew even better than we do."" --James C. Howell, Senior Pastor, Myers Park United Methodist Church, Charlotte, North Carolina ""Silent Strength is a powerful call for men to grow in maturity and leave a legacy that lasts. Dr. Glenn Collard reminds us that true legacy is not possessions, but an investment in people, memories, values, faith, and purpose that endure for generations. Drawing on the quiet strength of St. Joseph, this is a timely, Spirit-breathed resource for any man committed to living with purpose, humility, and unwavering strength."" --Scott Ingegneri, Executive Director, ACT International ""This book is a special and important undertaking, a unique summary of the rich meaning of maturity: the discovery of the life and spirituality of Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus of Nazareth, a quiet, faithful, and obedient man about whom we seem to know very little. It is a courageous investigation that follows in the footsteps of a mature man. In contemporary culture, we are in great need of this message. It invites us to spiritual and emotional growth, to consciously face ourselves, to surpass our own desires, and to reflect on our heritage. I trust that we will soon be able to read it in Hungarian!"" --László A. Khaled, District Superintendent, United Methodist Church Hungary ""Growing in maturity and leaving a legacy are essential, constitutive realities of being human, of living a meaningful life. Dr. Collard's book offers his creative reflections on manhood, following these two essential tracks, thus helping the reader in his own journey to maturity and building a meaningful legacy. A solid Christian worldview and faith, over forty years of international Christian ministry, combined with a fulfilled personal journey as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather are sufficient guarantees that the reading is worthwhile."" --Silviu E. Rogobete, Director, Doctoral School of Philosophy, Sociology and Political Science, West University of Timisoara, Romania
