Allen M. Comstock grew up in Huron, Ohio and graduated from the College of Wooster in 1964. He earned his master of divinity degree in 1968 and a master of arts in philosophical theology in 1972 at the Hartford Seminary, Hartford, Connecticut. He has been a pastor for fifty years, mostly in the hill-towns of western New England. Seasonings collects pastoral prayers written for worship services over that time. He and his wife, Linda, live in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts. Cara B. Hochhalter grew up in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan. Her careers have involved education, art, theology, and ministry. As an artist, she exhibited watercolors of endangered wildflowers in northern Michigan and Washington state.After eight years as a United Church of Christ Christian Educator in Charlevoix, Michigan, she attended United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, New Brighton, Minnesota, to study art and theology. She received a master of divinity degree in 2008. While studying, she created block prints and watercolors interpreting scripture as well as issues of social justice.In 2008, she became pastor for the Charlemont Federated Church in Massachusetts. She retired in 2018 to focus on making her art. Cara lives in Hyde Park, New York, with her husband, Jeffrey.
