Tony Walmsley developed his methodology in this unforgiving arena.

Now, he applies that same rigour to executive leadership and organisational design. Moving beyond static labels, SCORE: The Performance Code translates personality into predictive performance reliability.

Grounded in Big Five science, it maps the five dimensions that govern behaviour before the results are in.

This book enables leaders to: anticipate cracks before they widen, distinguish capability gaps from protection patterns, convert friction into forward momentum, strengthen alignment without suppressing challenge, and sustain execution when the margin for error disappears.

Whether rebuilding a squad, scaling an enterprise, or leading transformation, the challenge is constant: diverse personalities must hold together. You cannot afford to wait for the scoreboard to tell you something is broken.

Tony Walmsley is a performance specialist, former professional football manager, and founder of The Leaders Advisory. His work applies the realities of elite sport to business, helping leaders sustain performance when pressure, scrutiny, and complexity are highest. Across a career spanning continents and cultures, Tony has led Manchester United's international youth development programme in Oceania, built the Central Coast Mariners' youth program that produced future internationals such as Mathew Ryan and Mitchell Duke, and served as Head of Recruitment at Sheffield United. He was also among the pioneers of elite women's football in New South Wales, coaching future Olympians long before the women's game became professional. Work across emerging football systems in China and India, alongside senior roles in transport and technology, sharpened a central conviction: the same forces that enable teams to perform at their best under pressure are often the very forces that cause performance to break down. That insight led to the development of SCORE, a layered performance framework and profiling model that reveals how personality, pressure, and system design interact, and why access to capability is lost long before talent disappears. Through The Leaders Advisory, Tony now works with leaders, teams, and organisations across the talent cycle, helping them design environments that keep performance reliable when it matters most.
