Louise Pierlot MacAdam and her husband Charlie MacAdam have four boys. The children were raised speaking French (Louise) and English (Charlie) from birth. They home schooled their children in French. Louise found the current learn to read methods at the time did not prove successful in teaching her children. Being unable to find French learn to read material based on sight recognition, incremental learning, and phonetics, she designed her own program to teach her children. The program was later more fully developed to be directed to all children. It is helpful in particular for children who have trouble to keep focused, to remember the sounds of letters and phoneme groups, and who benefit from short direct lessons, that are repetitive yet have variety. The program was then translated to English and is thus available in both languages.
