Gayle was born and brought up in New Zealand, married in 1966 and had three children. The family moved to Australia in 1979. She now has six grown grandchildren. All her life she had Christmas in the summer that was always associated as cold with snow. For many years she wanted to write a book on Christmas in the sun.
