Paulo Martins MD, PhD, FAST, FEBS, FACS is a Transplant Surgeon and the lead of the Transplantation Lab. He is an associate Professor of Surgery and Adjunct Prof of Pathology at the University of Oklahoma. He graduated from the Federal University of Bahia in Brazil, completed a PhD in transplant immunology at the University of Berlin, and a transplant surgery fellowship at Harvard University (MGH). He is a member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He was the previous chair of the International Liver Transplant Society Basic and Translational Science committee and current chair of the American Society of Transplantation Organ Preservation and Recovery committee. He is in the top 2% World Scientist list from Elsevier/Stanford University. Pedro Baptista, PharmD, PhD, Marie Curie Alumni, is a Senior ARAID Researcher at IIS Aragon, Zaragoza, Spain, where he directs the Laboratory of Organ Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine. He serves as a Visiting Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Dr. Baptista earned his Pharmacy Degree from the University of Lisbon and completed his PhD training at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, USA. He is Secretary General of the European Society of Artificial Organs (ESAO) and Chair of the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) Regenerative Hepatology Consortium. Dr. Baptista has published extensively in high-impact journals on organ bioengineering, organoids, and regenerative hepatology, holds four patents, and has successfully spun off several related technologies into companies.
