Islam, like any other religion, has its fair share of disagreements and divisions. This book examines the effect of sectarian affiliation on understanding and interpreting the Quran. It especially focuses on Ash'ariyya and Mu'tazila sects and examines their theological approaches to the Quran. The second section includes the approaches of twelfth-century Islamic scholar Fakhr al-Din Razi and tenth-century Islamic scholar Qadi Abdul Jabbar to verses related to divinity, prophethood, and the afterlife and their evaluations related to these. In the final section, the author discusses various subjects, such as enjoining good and forbidding evil, the people of the Quran, and the principles of justice.
