This new edition has been fully updated and greatly expanded throughout to incorporate a decade of new research findings. It maintains the depth and scientific rigour of the first edition, and includes a new chapter on human sexuality, written from a comparative perspective. It contains 2600 references, almost 400 figures and photographs, and 73 tables.

Reviews for Primate Sexuality: Comparative Studies of the Prosimians, Monkeys, Apes, and Humans

`Review from previous edition Alan Dixson has drawn together an impressive body of literature in this landmark volume.... Dixson's treatment is unusually inclusive across levels of analysis and activity. His reach is impressive, and he has sought to distil and review more than 2000 sources from a diverse literature.... Primate Sexuality is an essential starting point in this field, and a must for every primatologist's library.' Professor Jeanne Altmann, Nature `An extremely important source of information and ideas. There is no other book like it for primates, and I suspect none for any other Order.' Professor Alexander Harcourt, University of California, Davis, USA `A fascinating, comprehensive, up-to-date and unparalleled synthesis of our current knowledge about primate sexuality.' Dr Andreas Paul, University of Goettingen, Germany
