Dr M. Mahruf C. Shohel currently working as the group head of research, innovation and scholarship engagement at the Bedford College Group and a visiting faculty at the University of Roehampton, UK. He is a Senior Fellow at Advance HE. He is an academic researcher and educationalist with special interests in education, childhood studies, international development, teachers’ professional development, technology-enhanced learning and social science research methods. He was included in the last two Research Excellence Framework submissions (REF2014 and REF2021) by the Open University. Most recently, he served as a reviewer of the Future Leaders Fellowships applications to UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Dr Shohel is a member of the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education. He is engaged in the fields of education, childhood studies, international development and social science research methods. Alex Mortby was the Vice Principal for Higher Education at the Bedford College Group and Lecturer of Computing and Business, specialising in Leadership and Coaching. Alex had the strategic responsibility for Curriculum, Research and Higher Education across a large FE College Group with 15,000 students and 1000 Higher Education Students. Alex was recently appointed by the Office for Students as Academic Panel Member for the Teaching Excellence Framework 2023. He held many senior roles across further education sector, including as a Vice Principal, Director of Curriculum, Head of Department and Head of Corporate Services. Alex was also a Governor at South Thames College Group, a large further education College based within London.
