Brian Turner is Associate Professor of History at Portland State University, Oregon. He is former director (2009-2011) of the Ancient World Mapping Center (www.unc.edu/awmc), and associate editor of the Pleiades project (www.pleiades.stoa.org). Alongside ancient geography and worldview, his research focuses on the culture of warfare in the ancient world. He is co-editor of Brill's Companion to Military Defeat in Ancient Mediterranean Society (2018). Richard J. A. Talbert is Research Professor of History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is the editor of the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World (2000).
