Developed from the author's courses, this text provides an understanding of the physical principles underlying human physiology and the monitoring of physical parameters in clinical settings with biomedical engineering applications. It takes a quantitative approach to physiology and includes many problems and worked examples. A supplementary website provides MATLAB(R) codes and material for practical classroom activities. A solutions manual is available upon qualified course adoption.

Reviews for Physiology, Biophysics, and Biomedical Engineering

The book is strongly recommended to statisticians who wish to work in this relatively new, still emerging field of engineering, which will have to draw on both biology and statistics in the future. -Jayanta K. Ghosh, International Statistical Review (2013), 81 The inclusion of sample problems with solutions and well balanced illustrations when appropriate make this book one of the most highly recommended for those interested in understanding the underlying physical phenomena of biomedical research. ...a valuable resource for medical professionals and students involved in physical medicine practice, medical device development, diagnostic design, and medical physics, particularly those interested in applied physics and engineering to medicine. -Paul Gueye, PhD, Hampton University, Virginia, USA
