Opening Doors

"Kevin Treston's ""Opening Doors"" is another gem from a Wisdom Teacher and a must read for us all, seekers, searchers or otherwise! In it Kevin gives us a distillation of all that is best in a contemporary 21st Century theology and ecclesiology, resourceful enough to meet the challenges of our times, as he deftly weaves his way also through the current insights and developments in many realms of knowledge and discovery, including the sciences, whilst also acknowledging the depths of the wisdom of the major world faiths. In so doing Kevin's reflections are a tour de force of what the Good News of Jesus the Christ has to offer to and learn from our current human and planetary context, offering answers to the questions we all face. -What is it to be human? -How do we become so? and more importantly- How do we become more so? cf Jerome Bruner Kevin's answers to these fundamental questions touch the very essence of the Dream of Jesus, the Reign of God, in such ways as to answer the heart's longing for life in abundance for each and for all and for the well being of our Common Home. As a young student of Theology some fifty years ago my eyes were opened when I read, ""Your God is too small"", by J.P. Phillips Touchstone Edition 2004 and it marked a significant growth point on my journey as a seeker after Truth. Reading Kevin's latest book now has evoked a similar awakenings in me confirming many of my arrival points whilst also nourishing my ongoing questioning nature summed up in the phrase, ""There is more faith in doubt than recitation of a thousand creeds."" Source Tennyson In ""Opening Doors"" Kevin gives Hope to fellow seekers at a time when many are filled with despair in a world conflicted, polarised and fragmented, in danger of even destroying the very ground on which we stand. This vision of Hope, of life in abundance for all and for all of God's Creation is the perennial Tradition of authentic religion, of the Wisdom of the Ages, of the Spirit animating our world, of the Universal Christ who invites us with unbounded welcome and unconditional hospitality, to open the door and to come home I owe a debt of gratitude to Kevin for nudging me in a little further!
