Father Peter Macleod-Miller is the rector of St Matthews Anglican Church in Albury, an important regional church with a colourful past and, thanks to Peter, a vibrant future. This modern community welcomes everyone with a warmth and generosity that have attracted nationwide media attention. But the road to St Matthew's has been paved with shadows. From a childhood in Sydney's leafy northern suburbs to the cloistered wonders of St Andrew's Cathedral, Peter's ascension to faith involved personal and spiritual trials that included forbidden love, an AIDS pandemic and many other theological hurdles. His own quarries of doubt were both institutional and personal and led him as far afield as an English parish on a par with the BBC's Vicar of Dibley.

Peter has become the 'sand in the cossie' of the Anglican Church for good reason: his quest to achieve inclusion and equality within the church for marginalised communities has pitted him against the fusty paternalism and dogma that still thrive within the upper echelons of the institution. Despite this, Peter's passion for his flock and for humanity at large has held him steady. His ministries over his life show the difference one person can make when they practice what Christ truly taught. His story is a testimony that love, humour, fun and outrageously good ideas make us all worthy of much more than gathering up the crumbs under God's table.

Abandon all rancour ye who enter here. This is the book of Peter Macleod-Miller.
