Based in the Parliamentary Press Gallery since the 1980s, Soper has covered every New Zealand prime minister from Robert Muldoon to Christopher Luxon, earning a reputation for his sharp questioning, wit, and deep institutional knowledge of Wellington politics. Soper is Newstalk ZB's senior political correspondent, and lives in Auckland.
