Rich Logis is a former MAGA activist, writer, and podcaster who spent seven years deeply embedded in the Trump movement before breaking away in 2022. During his time in MAGA, he published widely in right-wing media outlets, produced more than 150 podcast episodes, and became a vocal defender of Donald Trump's agenda.Anger over failed leadership during the pandemic started Logis on a painful path of discovery and reassessment. After struggling for many months with his doubts-and his fear of losing his community-Logis left MAGA in 2022. He publicly apologized for the harm he caused while in the movement. His widely read essay ""The Great Awokening"" marked one of the most visible public breakaways from the MAGA movement. In 2024, Logis founded Leaving MAGA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe, nonjudgmental space for people questioning or leaving the movement. The organization focuses on healing political trauma, encouraging critical thinking, and supporting democratic values without demanding partisan conformity.Logis has appeared on national media outlets including CNN and MSNBC, and has been published in The New Republic, Daily Kos, and other major platforms. He works with journalists, educators, and civic leaders to better understand radicalization and build pathways back to democratic participation.
