On Older Cats Second Edition would be a welcomed addition to any cat lovers bookshelf as it presents a view of the aging cat in the most unique way. Rather than being too technical, Ms Lindley has taken scientific information and molded it with her 50 years of hands-on experience to create a book easily understood by anyone.

On Older Cats Second Edition will guide you through the aging process of cats, from the first changes you will notice, outward appearances, then progress to internal changes and behavioral changes. Each topic, from eyes and ears to respiratory and immune systems, is explained as normal functions followed by results of normal aging, and expected problems. Chapter V: What You Can Do, covers everything from home care, diet, grooming, creature comforts, travel care and the most important health care for your older cat. There is also a section on Alternative Remedies seldom found in other cat books. And of course, a section on the emotional topics of euthanasia, pet loss and grieving.

Newly designed in beautiful Full Color format, this is a revised and updated edition of On Older Cats originally published in 2002.

"Supported by her extensive experience in animal care, as well as her expertise regarding the tortoiseshell-calico colored cats, Ms. Lindley has served as a cattery owner, founder and president of a cat registry and a cat rescue/sanctuary for more than four decades. Judith began her long career with cats in 1968, when she rescued five orphaned kittens. In 1973 she acquired a beautiful tortoiseshell and white colored cat, ""Miss Kitty"". ""Tri-Color Cattery"" began in 1974 with a breeding program, for the elusive male tortoiseshell-calico colored cat. In 1977 and 1978 ""Miss Kitty"" had two male Calico colored cats, which is very rare. They inspired Judith to found the ""Calico Cat Registry International"" (1978), as a means to educate people about these rare and beautiful cats, while simultaneously registering cats of qualifying colors. In 1979 Ms. Lindley started the non-profit ""Animal Helpline"" as a hotline style advice service and cat rescue shelter. Over the years Judith and ""Animal Helpline"" have rescued over 1500 cats and 30 dogs. Judith has earned a degree in Animal Science from the International Correspondence School (1995) and has been listed as one of the living authorities on the Tortoiseshell-Calico Cat. http: //JudithLindley.heartsy.com"

Reviews for On Older Cats

It has been quite interesting helping Judith with her book. I have tried very hard to keep her from making any errors in the scientific or medical portions. I have literally worn her out finding source material. I may not totally agree with all of her thoughts but this is her book and her observations are good and will work well for most cat owners and their cats. I think the cat owners of the world will enjoy her work, especially since it is written in a form that anyone can understand. J.L.Woodring, DVM. I ordered this book as soon as it came out. It reads like a guidebook. It's easy to read and comprehend. It's beautifully laid out and extremely well thought out. The hand written notes add a personal touch and makes it not as intimidating to try to decipher. If you have an older cat I highly recommend this book. Ms Lindley has done a great job compiling information to help our babies age comfortably and with dignity. Thank you Judith. I will always treasure your hard work in making this information ready and available. Your years of work and research are a great asset to to anyone who has a purring companion. Cassandra Gess I was so impressed with how easy this book was to read. This lady has rescued over a 1000 cats - founded a calico cat registry(!?) - been in countless articles through the past 20 years and her book is both practical AND helpful! I read it in a day but I'll be referring back to it again and again! Thanks Judith! Jaime Rea
